A bit about AGIS

The key Advanced Ground Information Systems, Inc. (AGIS) personnel have worked together in the past creating military communications systems that provided data interoperability between dissimilar systems.

When 9/11 took place, we started to discuss the issue and realized that many lives were lost as a result of lack of communications.  Since almost everyone has cell phones, we thought that there might be a way to use them to provide First Responders and others the voice and data communications necessary to effectively accomplish their missions.

We realized that because of their CPU and display, PDA cell phones had reached an inflection point where the hardware and the built-in software could be enhanced to provide the communications capabilities needed for effective real time mobile collaboration. Fortunately, after about three years of development, we made it happen and now have location, status reporting, and instant communications software that enables First Responders, military, and government agencies to use cell phones for mobile voice and data collaboration. AGIS’s software enables a PDA cell phone along with a GPS to provide  the identity, location and status of each user to all other users. Each user can enter geo-referenced points (meet me here, accident, good restaurant, etc.) and accept geo-referenced inputs from each of the other users by simply touching the appropriate map location displayed on his PDA. Text messages, photographs and video clips are exchanged in a similar manner.  For voice communications, AGIS added the capability to place voice calls by also simply touching the person to be called. First Responders monitoring our development noted that they had watch officers who used a PC to keep track of their activities. As a result of these comments, we modified the AGIS software to also operate on a PC or Tablet.

When we were testing AGIS, our families and teenagers saw what we were doing. They said "why not make a version of AGIS available to families and groups of friends?"

As a result of their urging, we are providing a free, limited capacity, AGIS version available for small groups. After using AGIS, if you find that you have more extensive needs, please contact us and tell us about your requirements. feedback@agisinc.com
